Successful GASG meeting on the hydrogen economy

The 87th GASG meeting ‘Fuelling The World: Hydrogen Sensing’ held at Cranfield University on 21st March 2024 was extremely well attended, demonstrating the current interest in the Hydrogen Economy. There is global governmental activity to promote the use of H₂ as a potential means to decarbonize economies and mitigate atmospheric warming. The speakers described a wide range of innovative modelling and measurement projects, providing an excellent overview of active work in this important field. Attendees were also able to visit some of the impressive hydrogen-related research and innovation facilities on the Cranfield campus.  This event was widely recognised to have been one of the most timely and productive GASG meetings in recent times.

Plans are now well advanced for our 88th meeting “Materials For Gas Sensing”. This will be held on Thursday 20th June 2024 in the conference facilities at Bletchley Park near Milton Keynes. The programme will cover a range of materials with sensor applications, such as catalysts, filters, electrodes and semiconductor sensing elements. Final programme details and registration information will be available soon.

During the Second World War, Bletchley Park was the principal centre of Allied code-breaking and set within beautifully restored historic buildings it now features award winning immersive displays telling the story of this once top-secret operation. Delegates will have the opportunity visit the famous "Home of the Code-Breakers" museum during the event.
