The next meeting of the Gas Analysis and Sensing Group will take place on Thursday 4th December 2025 at the prestigious Wellcome Collection in London. The theme of the meeting is ‘Special Gases & Unusual Places, and an excellent array of speakers is being assembled for the event.

Among the presenters is Professor Mark Miodownik MBE, who has recently been appointed as the Royal Society Professor for Public Engagement in Science. Mark is a prize-winning author and has previously presented the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures. 

The wide-ranging programme will include talks on the latest research on the detection of exoplanet atmospheres and the location of buried disaster victims using VoCs. In addition, Dr Claire Guest, OBE from Medical Detection Dogs, will discuss the detection of cancer using trained sniffer dogs with a live demonstration of their amazing capabilities. Delegates will also be able to visit the fascinating exhibits in the Wellcome Collection during the lunch interval.
