The Right PID for Your Needs

Mar 22 2016

As one of the most widely used gas detection techniques, the Photoionization Detector (PID), in general, is commonly applied in the detection of a wide variety of organic compounds and some inorganic gases in ambient air. With over four decades of experience in photoionization, and as the innovator of the miniature PID, MOCON-Baseline (USA) Series provides award-winning sensors that are utilised in a wide variety of VOC (volatile organic compounds) monitoring applications. The piD-Tech line of intrinsically safe photoionization sensors is known the world over as reliable and durable sensors for OEM portable and stationary gas monitors. As a result, we enjoy many long-term relationships with leading instrument manufacturers.

The piD-TECH plug-in sensor provides complete photoionization detection capabilities and is designed to be mechanically interchangeable with major brands of electrochemical sensors utilizing the 4P platform. Capabilities include minimum detection limits down to 0.5 ppb, stability over temperature changes, minimal humidity response, integral shielding, low dead volume, low response time, and an internally regulated supply voltage able to accept input voltages from 3.2 V to 5.5 V.

The MOCON – Baseline Series piD-TECH sensor detection capabilities and minimum detection quantity (MDQ) come in a multitude of sensitivity ranges depending upon lamp energy and application requirements.

Some common applications for the piD-TECH sensors include indoor air quality, industrial hygiene and safety monitoring, confined space entry, soil contamination and remediation, hazmat sites and spills, EPA Method 21, and low-concentration leak detection.
