Alphasense and AMETEK MOCON establish gas sensor centre of excellence

Alphasense, part of AMETEK Mocon, is investing in research and development to support its growth in air quality and gas safety sensors by establishing a Centre of Excellence.

The centre is located at its UK manufacturing facility in Essex, UK, and will focus on greater investment in innovative research and development projects. 

With an established reputation as a manufacturer of market-leading gas sensors, coupled with a history of engineering experience, Alphasense will not only offer enhanced product developments within the air quality and safety industries, but will offer career developments for local people.

Erik Boergesen, DVP Business Manager of MOCON Europe and Alphasense said: “We are excited to establish this global centre of excellence for gas sensor technology and bring even more manufacturing opportunities to our Braintree facility.

“Alphasense is already an established global brand in its own right. By introducing the engineering experience and investment power of AMETEK MOCON, we can further support both existing and new customers in the air quality, gas safety, and industrial markets.”

The centre of excellence, along with the existing manufacturing facilities, houses state-of-the-art automation which supports Alphasense’s continued advances in manufacturing and technology. This means customers will benefit from consistently high-quality products supported by excellent customer service and support.  

Alphasense’s range of sensor technologies includes electrochemical, catalytic, optical (NDIR and PID), semiconductor/metal oxide.

With over 25 years of experience in the air quality and gas safety industry, Alphasense benefits from access to some of the best technical and engineering experience available.
