Environmental monitoring equipment manufacturer Casella Monitor (UK) has added a new product to its wide ranging portfolio of product and service solutions by launching a new, low entry price, 18 filter-exchange, gravimetric particulate sampling unit, the Gravisol Sequential Ambient Particulate Monitor.

The device, unveiled for the first time at the recent Mcerts 09 Air and Emission Monitoring conference and exhibition in the UK, is capable of handling high volumes and has an automatic pneumatic filter changeover

mechanism which allows up to 18 gravimetric samples to be taken sequentially.

The Gravisol is driven by a single motor and is capable of three-dimensional movement, removing the risk of internal temperature fluctuations. The device allows sampling for both particulate matter PM10 (soot and dust) and PM2.5 (finer particles) and includes temperature and pressure sensor attachments. With its high quality pump it requires little attention, thus making this unit reliable and simple to maintain.

The Gravisol has a touch screen interface and a 2GB CF memory card capacity, and as well as a web-based remote control facility option. It is ideal for use on construction or demolition sites, for indicative boundary monitoring, air quality assessments, ambient air quality studies, traffic monitoring, and in air quality management areas.

Phil Bradley, Casella Monitor’s Technical Services Manager, commented that Environment Agency representatives who saw the Gravisol at the exhibition said that they liked the fact that it maintains a stable internal

temperature, allowing samples to retain their VOC content for further speciation, conserving valuable data that might otherwise be lost.
