Casella, a division of TSI and specialist in air sampling, noise and vibration monitoring, has achieved Intrinsically Safe (IS) accreditation for its VAPex low flow air sampling pump in the US and Canada. The certification was issued by QPS Evaluation Services Inc.
Intrinsically Safe equipment is designed to operate safely in hazardous or potentially explosive environments by limiting energy levels to prevent ignition of airborne gases and vapours.
With a flow rate of 20mL to 500mL/min, the VAPex is designed for monitoring chemical exposure, including Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), which can cause serious long-term health effects. Its compact design provides over 34 hours of runtime, while three LED indicators provide clear pump status.
The VAPex Pro connects to Casella’s Airwave App via Bluetooth, allowing industrial hygienists to record notes and sample data digitally and monitor pump operation remotely.
Phil Bradley, Managing Director at Casella, explains: “Our VAPex air sampling pump was designed with ease of use and worker safety in mind, including in hazardous environments. We are pleased to have attained these new certifications that allow its use in hazardous environments across Canada and the US. Industrial hygienists in North America can now use this innovative product to measure a workers exposure to VOCs and gases in the workplace.”
Casella, a division of TSI, is dedicated to reducing occupational health and environmental risks through reliable monitoring solutions.
