Next-generation photometers and cloud software redefine professional water testing

20 May, 2026

Water-i.d.® GmbH are a German-based company that specialise in water quality monitoring. Established in 2003, Water-i.d.® currently offer a range of innovative products including photometers, reagents (tube tests, tablets, powder, liquid), electrochemical probes, comparators, electronic meters, test strips, test blocks, and bacteria testing kits.

Water-i.d.® distribute water testing equipment in more than 100 countries around the globe, serving different industries, such as the laboratory market, drinking water, wastewater, marine industry, food processing and many more sectors.

The PoolLab 2.0® is the latest version of its product line and has an extended selection of 24 measurable water parameters, which are measured using 4 detectable wavelengths. In addition, the cuvette consists of three separate measuring chambers, enabling three parallel measurements to save valuable working time. Data transfer via WiFi instead of Bluetooth® is easily possible with the PoolLab 2.0®, as the device has both options, allowing users to select the desired method before conducting data transfer.

For those requiring a more comprehensive package for professional water testing under laboratory conditions, the PoolLab 2.0®'s bigger brother — the PrimeLab 2.0 photometer — is well worth considering. More than 140 different determinable water parameters cover every possible scenario. Every parameter can be purchased individually or as part of preset kits by ordering activation codes. The device's sensor setup can handle 18 different wavelengths; the light source LEDs cover the full visible spectra plus parts of UV.

A sensor located at an angle of 90° to the light source offers the option to determine turbidity parameters according to ISO 7027. Wireless connections can be set up easily with the PrimeLab 2.0 since it has a powerful WiFi chip on board. If no WiFi is available nearby, the device can simply be connected to the internet via (up to) 5G.

For electrochemical parameters such as pH or electrical conductivity, electrodes can be connected to the PrimeLab 2.0 via the ProbeBOX 1.0. The 5.5" colour HD touch display guarantees an easy user experience. No effort has been spared on quality-of-life features, with electrodes also connectable to any smartphone via the ProbeBOX 1.0. Storing measurement data on the device is straightforward, with users able to create their own customised points.

Once measurements have been successfully carried out, results can be managed via free access to the in-house cloud service, LabCOM®. Simply create an account, log in and synchronise measurement data with the cloud — done. A detailed overview of the condition of sample water is provided, with the option to export and save all information in the preferred file format. The LabCOM® software family consists of proprietarily programmed versions for Windows®, MacOS® and Android®, as well as a web application for use in any browser, catering for different preferences and working environments.

This provides ample opportunity to familiarise employees or family members with the devices in the PoolLab® and PrimeLab product lines, from preparing measurements through to data evaluation, without time-consuming training and the resulting potential for errors.

The powerful range of devices, software solutions and accessories provides every user with professional water analysis measuring instruments at an affordable price, offering a very high level of user-friendliness, efficiency and measuring accuracy. In particular, the three-chamber cuvette of the PoolLab 2.0® enables parallel measurement of several parameters simultaneously, delivering unbeatable time efficiency. The free management of measurement data via the LabCOM® software family is also a central element of this successful concept, and is continually being expanded with new functions.
