Regulatory changes ahead

ENVEA shares that EU environmental legislation for waste gases is changing. Industrial operators with chemical activities will soon be required by law to install continuous measurement and monitoring systems.

Known as WGC BREF, the IED’s Best Available Techniques (BAT) initiative will be coming into force on 12 December 2026.

David Galvez, Application Manager Heavy Industries, ENVEA explained what this means for businesses: “The upcoming changes to IED BAT regulations must be taken seriously. Non-compliance risks operational shutdowns and costly penalties of up to 3% of a company’s annual turnover. By taking swift action, and choosing a partner with a proven track record in IED installations and regulatory understanding, these dangers can potentially be avoided.”

As industry and regulatory experts with a proven track record in chemical activities, ENVEA has put together a free WGC BREF fact sheet to guide customers through the changes.

The document outlines the new rules and thresholds, and describes which chemical activities are affected, whilst explaining how to achieve compliance.
