The control and documentation of air quality is becoming increasingly important in many working environments. The Desaga GS100 Germ Sampler from Sarstedt (Germany) has been specifically developed for this type of application and has the capability to check indoor air for microbiological contamination in laboratories, hospitals and production lines.

Sarstedt’s germ sampler operates on the principle of the Anderson Air Sampler. Adjustment of the inlet opening yields a suction rate of ca. 0.4 m/sec, whereby the air flow has been set to 100L/min at the works. The particles and micro-organisations are directed on to a standard Petri dish containing nutrient medium. Afterwards; the colony-forming units are grown directly on these dishes – naturally; the collecting head is autoclavable.

The measurement parameters are entered via the touch keyboard. The data can be accessed at any time, checked on the digital display and modified.

When in mobile operation, a built-in, rechargeable battery provides current yielding an operating capacity of ca. 5-6 hours. The mains power pack supplied can be used to recharge the battery and, of course, the unit can be operated via the mains as well.
