A dependable refrigerant gas detector

08 Aug, 2025

Daleman's D420 Gas detector monitors refrigerant gas leak in refrigerated rooms. It is designed to work with the compatible Dalemans UC2 control units to detect any presence of refrigerant or to measure the level of oxygen in the ambient air.

The D420 Gas detector is a Toxic Gas and Oxygen detector whose measure range corresponds to the full scale measurement value (PPM, % v/v), i.e. the highest gas concentration that can be measured.

This highly reliable and efficient instrument will detect the presence of refrigerants in ambient air. The D420 detects critical refrigerants such as NH3, and Freon (R32, R1234yf, R1234ze, R134a, R404a, R407c, R410a, R449a, R513a, R507, R454a, R454b and R407a).

The D420 uses an electrochemical (NH3, O2) or semi-conductor (Freon) sensor whose signal is converted into an electrical signal with a current of 4 to 20 mA in accordance with the concentration of the toxic gas in the air.

Alarm thresholds shall be set to react to the concentration (ppm) of each refrigerant to be detected. The control unit manages these thresholds, which are typically, for a 0-2000 ppm range Freon detector, 500 ppm for the first alarm level (A1) and 1000 ppm for the second level (A2).

The D420 comes with a flame-retardant, dust and water proof (IP65) plastic housing (UL 94 V-0), a liquid crystal display (LCD) which, during normal operation, displays the gas concentration. It also comes with a three-key touch-sensitive keypad.

The D420 also has an explosion-proof sensor head and a terminal block mounted on a printed circuit board. The sensor head is designed to facilitate the eventual sensor replacement quickly and easily.

The D420 has been designed for use in commercial and light industrial buildings and has an operating temperature range from 0°C to +50°C.
