Thermo Fisher Scientific (USA) announces a new resource that enhances its extensive portfolio of GC/MS offerings to the environmental industry. On-line environmental productivity solutions are now available, free-of-charge, via the Thermo Scientific GC and GC/MS environmental webpage, www.thermo.com/enviro. The comprehensive and easy-to-use online resources redefine traditional method development and validation processes by matching consumables, software and documentation to high performance Thermo Scientific GC/MS systems.

The environmental productivity solutions provide scientists with detailed information on how to employ Thermo Scientific GC/MS instruments for the analysis of drinking water and wastewater according to appropriate United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) methods. The described techniques ensure immediate achievement of analytical goals, while offering easy customisation to match specific requirements. The solutions deliver improved performance, unmatched precision and long-term reliability for a complete list of method compounds, while also enabling significant cost reduction and higher throughput.

The new online resource currently includes five environmental productivity solutions, each describing the components needed to customise an instrument for the appropriate method and including all electronic files required to run the methods. Simple guides illustrate the basic steps required to set up an instrument, run the method and walk the user through the use of Thermo Scientific EnviroLab Forms software for each method according to specific laboratory requirements. Scientists can see, at a glance, everything necessary to validate each of their methods, allowing GC/MS operators to rapidly implement new methods and maximise productivity.
