From A Basic Oxygen Sensor to a Complete Oxygen Analyser Solution

SST Sensing Ltd have been designing and manufacturing a wide range of rugged, robust and reliable Zirconium Dioxide Oxygen Sensing Solutions to the combustion and aerospace industry for over 10 years. SST’s oxygen sensors are used in fuel tank gas inerting systems in various aircraft including Boeing and Airbus, as well as the biomass boiler and gas combustion market where they are fitted to improve heating efficiency of boilers and reduce harmful emissions. Although these are the primary target markets for these products, SST have quickly learned over the last few years that their oxygen sensors are suited to a large number of alternative and exciting applications due to the flexibility and capability of the sensor. The sensors can prolong the life of fruit, vegetables and other perishable goods by monitoring the oxygen levels in the storage and transportation environments. They can also be used in composting, agriculture and medical applications, to name just a few.

After listening to customer feedback over the years, SST has developed the product range from its simplest form (a basic sensor) into complete oxygen sensing solutions tailored to meet customers’ specific requirements. The sensor is available to purchase in various mounting styles: flange, probe, miniature and threaded. All of SST’s oxygen sensors require interface electronics in order to operate.   SST can supply you with off the shelf interface electronics or, if you prefer, we can assist you in integrating the required interface components into your own system. And for those who require a low cost integrated solution, SST’s OXY-FLEX oxygen analyzer combines the highly accurate Zirconium Dioxide Oxygen Sensors with complete built-in interface electronics, removing the need for customers to implement their own electronics.

Still, for many applications an 'Off the Shelf' oxygen sensor is not always the right solution. Often customers require changes to physical designs, electronic conditioning, special cabling…the list goes on. SST has many years of experience in designing and customising oxygen sensors for specific applications. 

The Zirconium Dioxide Oxygen Sensors are the ideal solution where reliability and accuracy are required, robustness in harsh environments is essential, ease of calibration if necessary; resistance to carbon deposits and other pollutants is vital and increasing efficiency and minimising emissions is fundamental. The dynamic sensing principle ensures failsafe operation. The rugged stainless steel construction ensures long life in aggressive and high temperature environments. No reference gas is required for these sensors and all versions are able to measure a wide oxygen range.
