Following its structural revision, IE expo 2012, the new brand integrating IFAT CHINA and EPTEE + CWS, celebrated a successful premiere and confirmed its leading character in the Chinese environmental technology market. The show was held in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) from March 7 to 9, 2012 and was successfully organised by MMI-ZM Trade Fairs (Shanghai). The company is a recently established joint venture between MMI (Shanghai) Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Messe München International, and Shanghai ZM International Exhibition Co. Ltd.

This year IE expo occupied four halls of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. The show attracted 753 exhibitors from 25 countries and approximately 24,000 visitors from 53 countries. Visitor numbers were up 10 percent on last time. With these figures, IE expo has strengthened its prevailing position among environmental trade shows in China. The show covers the product categories of water, sewage, refuse, recycling and energy conservation.

The top ten visitor countries and regions were – in this order – China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Russia, Turkey, U.S.A., Malaysia and Germany. Rudolf Bogner, Head of Business Development, Water Technologies, at Siemens AG, commented: “We are very excited to see so many people attending the show. We have met many potential customers here and the show helps with our business.”
