Wöhler expands the Wöhler A 550 INDUSTRIAL with two new sensor options: CxHy for unburned hydrocarbons and H₂ for hydrogen in exhaust gases. These additions provide users with a more complete view of combustion and emissions processes and support more reliable decisions in demanding industrial applications.
The Wöhler A 550 INDUSTRIAL is designed for flue gas analysis in power stations, industrial furnaces and similar environments. Built for harsh operating conditions, the analyser can operate with up to five sensors simultaneously. O₂ and CO are always included, while additional sensors can be selected as required, including NO, NO₂, SO₂, CO₂ NDIR, H₂S, CxHy and H₂. This allows the instrument to be adapted to a wide range of industrial measurement tasks.
Its hardware is built for challenging applications. A high-temperature probe up to 1,200 °C, extendable from 1 m to 2 m and equipped with a stainless steel sintered filter, protects the sensors even under heavy dust loads. For accurate NO₂ and SO₂ measurements, an optional battery-powered Peltier cooler removes condensate efficiently. A powerful pump enables fast, representative sampling at negative pressures up to 300 mbar, while a dual-port digital pressure sensor supports measurement of flue gas velocity and flow rate.
The new CxHy non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) sensor (0–50,000 ppm), calibrated for methane, allows direct measurement of unburned hydrocarbons in exhaust gas. This is especially relevant for thermal after-combustion systems, volatile organic compound/hydrocarbon (VOC/HC) purification, combined heat and power (CHP) plants, gas engines and industrial furnaces. It helps users identify HC emissions directly, verify compliance with limits and optimise burners and engines based on more complete data.
The new H₂ sensor (0–50,000 ppm) detects hydrogen in exhaust gases directly. It is particularly valuable in applications involving biogas, landfill gas, process gases and hydrogen blends. Measuring hydrogen helps users determine whether elevated CO values are genuine or influenced by H₂, improving emissions reporting and reducing the risk of misinterpretation.
A bright 7-inch touchscreen, probe start/stop button, storage for 1,000 records, and data transfer via universal serial bus (USB), infrared and wireless local area network (WLAN) ensure practical on-site use. The Wöhler Report App supports fast documentation and professional report generation, while on-site printing is possible with the Wöhler TD 200 thermal printer.
