A reliable solution for automated dust emission monitoring and control

06 Oct, 2025

Environmental regulations are becoming ever more stringent, and industrial transparency is becoming paramount. Precise, real-time monitoring of particulate deposition is critical for industrial locations. Aloatec, who exhibited at the recent AQE Exhibition in Birmingham, has developed the ADDA (Automatic Dust Deposition Analyser), a robust and intelligent sensor system that automates the continuous measurement of dust deposits across industrial environments. Designed to manage particulate emissions effectively, the ADDA helps organisations reduce their environmental footprint while streamlining regulatory compliance.

The ADDA uses natural sedimentation in an open collector, according to ISO 4222 and NFX 43 014 standards. It performs fully automatic, continuous measurement of dry dust deposition (mg/m²/day), while simultaneously distinguishing and quantifying wet deposition. With a high-resolution output of one data point per hour, the ADDA enables facility operators to monitor emissions with exceptional temporal granularity.

Key operational parameters underscore its industrial suitability, including a sensitivity of 3 mg/m²/day, precision of 12 mg/m²/day, and a 32-sample capacity within a single unit. The ADDA system operates autonomously for up to one month and is designed for durability and ease of deployment, weighing 340 kg and requiring only a standard 220V, 100W power supply. Its compact design (0.95 x 0.67 x 1.92 m) enables installation across a range of industrial sites.

An outstanding feature of the ADDA is its intelligent data management. All measurement data is transmitted automatically to a secure online platform, where it can be accessed in real time. Validation occurs within 24 hours, ensuring robust auditability. Data can also be relayed to external systems via API integration, delivering compatibility with centralised environmental observatories or compliance dashboards. By automating both the measurement and reporting processes, the ADDA significantly reduces the need for manual sampling, cutting both operational costs and human error.

From an environmental risk perspective, the ADDA provides superb incident detection and response. The system triggers automatic alerts when abnormal dust levels are detected, thereby enabling rapid intervention and minimising potential impacts on local communities. This proactive function helps mitigate nuisance complaints, litigation and reinforces a facility’s crisis management capabilities.

Crucially, he ADDA is not just a monitoring instrument, it is an environmental management tool. It supports ISO 14000 initiatives, enables improved understanding of emission profiles linked to specific activities, and facilitates targeted mitigation strategies. As dust episodes are identified and characterised, industries can refine their operational practices, reduce long-term risks, resulting in measurable improvements in air quality control.

Aloatec’s ADDA offers a practical, proven, and intelligent solution. By delivering validated, real-time dust deposition data, it empowers environmental managers to move beyond basic compliance and achieve best-in-class performance in emission control.
