New digital handheld optical DO meter

Jul 03 2009

YSI Hydrodata (UK) has announced the release of the Professional Series ProODO™ instrument. Commenting on the launch, YSI’s Ian Thompson says, "As a global market leader in rugged, portable, field-use water quality monitoring instruments and with a history of leading development in dissolved oxygen technologies, YSI is particularly thrilled with the new ProODO™."

A portable instrument employing Optical Dissolved Oxygen technology, the ProODO™ brings new levels if simplicity and reliability to anyone with a professional interest in the measurement of DO.   The ProODO™ offers an expanded DO range of 0-500% (0-50 mg/L) with no flow dependence and thereby reduces the possibility of operator error due to inadequate stirring.

The greater stability of optical technology dramatically reduces calibration frequency and thereby reduces maintenance costs. In addition, the technology is resistant to probe fouling from other gases. The sensor employs smart technology; it stores calibration data so that probes can be interchanged between instruments without recalibration.

Designed for field or laboratory use, the ProODO™ is extremely robust; it is rated to IP-67 even without the battery cover on. Other tough features include: military spec. connectors, rubber over-moulded case, field tested cables and a weighted probe guard. A 3-year instrument warranty and a 2-year cable and probe warranty are supplied as standard.   An internal memory of 2,000 data sets with keypad and backlit display means that data collection in the field is quick and easy. However, powerful Data Manager software is supplied with every instrument to enable simple, efficient data download, instrument configuration, and real-time studies. Data can be viewed graphically or in tabular form and exported to other programmes in a variety of formats. The ProODO™ will join the ’ Professional Series’ family of water quality meters which feature a comprehensive range of single and multiparameter options to suit every application.
