Ocean Optics (Netherlands) offers an extensive range of products to analyse marine life. Ocean Optics offers a large range of spectrometers, light sources, excitation sources and accessories to measure the reflection and fluorescence to analyse soft corals and other marine life. We also offer systems to measure the relationship between radiation that is directed upwards from the earth surface (upwelling) and radiation that is directed towards the earth surface (downwelling) to give (spectral) information about vegetation, forest canopies, sea beds and more.

For example, Ocean Optics spectrometers have been used to measure the effects of strip mining on coastal erosion, sea grass growth and coral reef health. The team of researchers focussed on the relationship between above-water reflectance and turbidity profiles. The latter relates to fluxes in the presence of metals and other various pollutants and thus to sea growth and coral reef health.
