Trace/heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, cadmium and mercury, that may be naturally occurring or derived from industrial processes can pose a significant  threat to human health and the environment. To effectively manage these risks, there is a need for accurate on-line and portable monitoring equipment that can provide real time data.

Modern Water’s (UK)OVA7000 Dual Cell has been designed to extend the range of detectable metals to up to ten in a single unit and offers 24 hour monitoring for up to six sample streams.

The analyser uses voltammetry to detect metals in liquid applications. Voltammetry is an internationally accepted detection method used in all of Modern Water’s trace metal product range. It offers a robust and effective online and portable method as an alternative solution to lengthy laboratory analysis.

Voltammetry methods often require different electrodes in order to optimise the detection of a specific metal. A significant advantage of the OVA 7000 Dual Cell is that it has two analytical cells, each can be fitted with a different electrode, whilst sharing the one pre-treatment unit. By having a single unit with two electrodes, the Dual Cell allows combinations of metals that would previously have required two separate instruments.

It can be used to detect contaminants in rivers, lakes, groundwater and the sea; to monitor process and drinking water quality; and industrial and municipal wastewater discharges.

Modern Water’s trace metal product range includes the portable PDV6000ultra and the on-line, continuous systems: the OVA7000 and the OVA7000 Dual Cell. These products have proven to offer cost effective, accurate and real time solutions to trace metals monitoring in a range of environments and applications across the world.
