Reasonable, Entry-Level Model for Professional Acoustic Water Leak Detection

Jul 05 2016

Just in time for the opening of IFAT, Hermann Sewerin GmbH (Germany) launched a new system for professional electro-acoustic leak detection: the AQUAPHON A 50. The small, lightweight and compact A 50 receiver has everything you need to electro-acoustically locate leaks in water pipe networks. This new product, introduced for the first time at the trade fair, is the reasonable, entry-level model for professional acoustic water leak detection. It completes the portfolio of devices previously developed by Sewerin in the water product segment.

The A 50 receiver, in striking Sewerin orange, is part of the AQUAPHON family, the internationally known, tried and true system for electro-acoustic water leak detection. The receiver, along with the other components, easily and reliably prelocates and pinpoints leaks in the water pipe network. In combination with Sewerin headphones and the UM 50 universal microphone or TS 50 test rod, the receiver provides extremely high-quality reproduction of noises typical of leaks. The IP65 protection class receiver features a robust plastic housing and can be used both indoors and out. In addition to the acoustic reproduction, the display also helps by visualising the noises, enabling users to carry out clear, differentiated evaluations. The noise intensity is displayed including the current noise level and previous minimum noise levels – it is displayed clearly in easy to read numerical values as well as graphically using a bar. The activation key conveniently starts and stops measurements and you can switch between hold and toggle mode. Adjustable filters make it possible to customise the frequency ranges to your hearing. Lower and upper filter limits can be changed (six levels each); a notch filter can be set. Further, adjustable volume and hearing protection ensure a comfortable, safe working environment. In the SDR product version (Sewerin Digital Radio) the A 50 receiver allows for the use of the F8 wireless headphones: more freedom of movement, fewer annoying cables. It is also possible to connect a second set of K3 wired headphones so that two people can hear the noises at the same time. This is useful, for example, for training/educational purposes.

Sewerin product developers paid special attention to user friendliness and carrying comfort when designing the system: The A 50 receiver boasts an illuminated display featuring optimised tilt angle – depending on how it is carried the display automatically rotates by 180°, making it perfectly easy to read at any time. There’s more: at a mere 400 g the receiver is extremely lightweight, compact and manageable, allowing you to carry it comfortably and effortlessly attached to a belt clip or using a carrying strap. It is always easy to access and ready for use - the high-quality lithium ion battery provides great power reserves, even without recharging.

The entire AQUAPHON A 50 system scores points with long availability, the operating time is more than 30 hours. Enough power for an entire work week.
