A contract has been signed to upgrade and expand the
wastewater and drinking water networks in Pitesti, south-central Romania.
Carinthia-based family business SW Umwelttechnik will be earning 0.9 million euro (£0.8 million) for supplying 1.3 km of jacking pipes for the EU-supported project.
Meanwhile, its Hungarian subsidiary, OMS Hungaria, has been awarded a 1.1 million euro deal for a
wastewater and infrastructure project in the city of Ujsziulvas in central Hungary.
The firm is set to design and construct approximately 1.6 km of sewage pipes and 15 km of open drains for the road network before the end of 2009.
In addition, SW Umwelttechnik has been assigned a follow-up contract from a Scandinavian customer for the construction of a shopping centre.
Despite these signs of improvement, it is now increasingly reliant on its water conservation business, which caters to local authorities, as its major source of revenue.
Founded in 1910, the company has floated on the Vienna Stock Exchange since 1997.
