Groundwater monitoring
Solinst Canada Ltd., a global leader in high-quality groundwater and surface water monitoring instrumentation, officially announces the release of the Levelogger® 6 Series. Engineered from the ground up, the Levelogger 6 represents an evolution in continuous water level and temperature logging, integrating enhanced sensor stability, high-speed communication, and data management tools for modern monitoring programmes.
The Levelogger 6 measures absolute pressure utilising a Hastelloy® pressure sensor delivering a full-scale (FS) accuracy of 0.05 per cent. The instrument maintains measurement stability across extreme pressure and temperature ranges and has a battery that can last up to ten years. The durable housing features double O-ring seals and a new grey corrosion-resistant coating applied internally and externally. Built with an integrated Faraday cage design, the internal circuitry is shielded against power surges and electrical spikes.
“Our customers require precise, reliable, and uncompromised hydrogeological and hydrological data across harsh field environments,” said Solinst Canada Ltd. “The Levelogger 6 combines field-proven physical durability with advanced diagnostic capabilities and faster communication protocols to streamline field operations and long-term network management.”
The Levelogger 6 Series introduces several technical enhancements. An updated Mk3 USB-C PC Interface Cable doubles communication speeds compared with legacy models, drastically reducing data offload times and enabling in-field firmware updates. Smart hardware diagnostics use integrated LED indicators to provide real-time status feedback, while automated self-test functions detect any irregularities upon connection to the software. Dedicated data loss protection is also built in: alongside a primary memory capacity of 150,000 data sets, the Levelogger 6 includes a dedicated backup memory holding the most recent 20,000 readings. Advanced data analysis functions allow users to calculate minimum, maximum and average values over user-defined intervals, and to merge data files into a single unified file to streamline long-term monitoring project management. The instrument also offers wide integration capabilities, being fully compatible with SDI-12 and MODBUS protocols via dedicated surface interface cables, as well as with Solinst cellular (LevelSender), radio (RRL) and satellite (SolSat) telemetry networks.
The Levelogger 6 product family includes specialised variants: the Barologger 6 for atmospheric pressure compensation, Levelogger 6 Junior for low-cost datalogging, Levelogger 6 LTC (Level, Temperature, Conductivity), and the Rainlogger 6. The LevelVent 6 provides an option for water level datalogging using a vented pressure sensor.
