New Universal pH/ORP Sensors for Maximum Performance and Reduced Maintenance

Jun 12 2009

Analytical Technology Inc (ATi) (UK) announces the introduction of its new Q22 Specialty pH/ORP sensors. Water companies and industrial users are under constant pressure to reduce maintenance costs and improve performance. Analytical Technology’s new sensors are supplied as standalone parts allowing for simple sensor replacement without the need for an entire system installation. In addition, the new sensors have been designed for use with all pH/ORP analysers and generic panel meters available on the market.

Conventional pH/ORP sensors operate based on an open reference system, which allows the reference elements and electrolytes to be in contact with the process. Chemicals diffuse into the reference chamber and contaminate the system, causing the reference potential to shift and the sensors to fail. As a result, more cleaning and calibration cycles are required, costing considerable amounts of time and money. Analytical Technology’s Q22 Specialty pH/ORP sensors, whether universal or loop-powered, incorporate a glass reference system protecting the sensors from chemical poisons that destroy conventional pH/ORP sensors.   The electrodes of Analytical Technology’s new Q22 Specialty pH/ORP sensors are customised and user-specified to ensure optimum measurement reliability and maximum sensor lifetime. An integral preamplifier is encapsulated in the body of the sensors, generating a low impedance signal output which ensures stable readings in harsh environments and maximises the distance between the sensor and the analyzer. A large volume, dual junction, replaceable saltbridge is also incorporated to maximize the in-service time of the sensors and allow for easy and inexpensive sensor regeneration. The sensor housings are constructed of durable materials that provide outstanding mechanical strength and chemical resistance.   Dr. Michael Strahand, General Manager Europe, Analytical Technology, comments: “ATi is highly committed to working with our customers to help them overcome common issues such as failing equipment, increased maintenance costs and productivity losses. The introduction of the new pH/ORP sensors further demonstrates Analytical Technology’s innovative, problem-solving approach. Our new Q22 sensors are extremely robust and demonstrate superior performance even when used in the most demanding applications.”
