In-Situ supports UK water companies in achieving Section 82 Compliance

17 Mar, 2025

In-Situ is dedicating local experts to support the needs of UK water companies as they develop programmes to meet Environment Act Section 82 river water quality monitoring requirements.

Section 82 regulations are scheduled to become mandatory this year. All utilities in the U.K. must now continuously monitor water quality both upstream and downstream of sewer discharge, storm overflows and other assets.

With two UK offices in Redditch and St Austell, In-Situ is on the ground helping engineers and utilities solve site-specific monitoring challenges. The UK team is committed to developing personalised solutions for S.82 compliance.

“We want to take the pain away from traditional water monitoring,” said Kayleigh Smith, Regional Sales Manager for Northern UK. In-Situ instrumentation, telemetry and software are designed with ease of use in mind. “And all of our products are designed to seamlessly integrate into other solutions,” Smith added.

Third-party compatibility grants partners greater flexibility to make monitoring solutions work for them. In-Situ prioritises intuitive design. The company launched the industry’s first mobile app, replacing complex and expensive handheld devices. Customers now have simple, step-by-step guides for set-up, calibration, and deployment accessible on their mobile devices.

“Monitoring equipment needs to be easy to use,” said Smith. “You don’t want something that’s so complex you need a degree to work it.”

VuSitu supports large-scale monitoring installations like those required by the EA. With the app’s instructions and visual guides, there’s no need for prior training.

With decades of experience and industry knowledge, the U.K. team is committed to providing responsive, knowledgeable service to keep projects running smoothly.

“We truly believe we’re the right partner to work with for Section 82 monitoring,” said Smith. “Our proven track record in river water quality initiatives, combined with our simple and versatile instrumentation, make us a trusted choice to meet the requirements of section 82.”
