A
wastewater treatment works in Wales has installed an EZstrip Cake Pump in an attempt to reduce maintenance time and increase reliability of the sewage site.
Earlier this week, Nov Mono's new equipment was put into place at the Welsh Water facility in Cardigan in order to transfer 22 to 28 per cent of the
wastewater's sludge cake directly to a skip.
Project engineer at Welsh Water Jonathon Kelly said: "The installation of the new EZ strip cake pump will ensure the continuous reliability of the sludge treatment plant on site and reduce potential plant downtime allowing sludge to be processed."
The pump works using a rotor to help provide consistent pumping of the sludge cake, as well as a side inlet port which allows the pump to be drained.
Earlier this week, Thames Water announced that a sewage treatment process is helping to extract biomethane gas from the
wastewater to be used as energy for homes in Oxfordshire.
