Van Walt Ltd (UK), the specialist environmental equipment supplier, has launched the next generation of wireless groundwater monitoring technology - Diver-NETZ from Schlumberger Water Services.

This new system links onsite Diver water level loggers located in monitoring wells, directly to an office PC – wirelessly. Time spent in the field is reduced, the quality of the data is improved and Diver-NETZ technology will fit in almost any monitoring well, including those as small as 1 inch.

“The Diver-NETZ system is ideal for multiple wells and monitoring wells in difficult to access locations,” said Vincent van Walt, Director. “Recent trials in Holland have shown this system is up to 85% more efficient than traditional methods of data collection because operators spend less time walking to and from vehicles to the monitoring points; unlocking and opening well covers; retrieving the water level loggers from the wells; downloading collected data and then reversing the process to put everything back in place - until the next time.”

Used to collect groundwater level, temperature and conductivity, Diver-NETZ can be fitted retrospectively to all existing Divers.

“Carefully managed groundwater is critical to our existence, economy and well-being and that’s why tens of thousands of Diver water level loggers are in place, worldwide, each accurately, reliably and conveniently recording groundwater data. The introduction of Diver-NETZ will make this technology even more indispensable to the groundwater research community,” concluded Vincent van Walt.
