STS Watermanager Solution Monitors the Groundwater below the Ring Rail Line

The Ring Rail Line 2014 will provide a rail link to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and become an essential part of the urban line network. The line will connect residential and business areas, improving public transport in the entire Helsinki region. The 18km rail line will also bring rail services to new areas in Vantaa, allowing people living further away to take advantage of the new services.

The new rail line will run through three important groundwater areas and there will be a tunnel in the airport groundwater area. Groundwater has been monitored regularly in order to study the conditions, with critical areas being monitored by the STS Water Manager Solution (Switzerland).

The operation of the STS Water Manager Solution is simple, user-friendly and has a large memory capable of measuring 250,000 values using a GSM/GPRS transmission. A radio interface (433 MHz) allows for reading data with the capability to configure the entire system. In addition, data reading and management of the system is readily available from any location, and should an out-of-limits condition arise, then a warning email and SMS message is automatically sent.
