Gas Detection
Chlorine Gas Generator for Site and Laboratory Test and Calibration
May 22 2016
Some gases are highly reactive and difficult to handle and store using traditional cylinders. Chlorine is one of these gases. With traditional cylinders, accuracy and shelf life of stored gas is extremely poor. To overcome such problems, the GazCal Gas Generator, from Euro-Gas Ltd. was developed for Chlorine (Cl2).
The GazCal is a rugged, portable, battery-operated unit suitable for test and calibration both in the laboratory and on-site. Utilised across many industries worldwide, it proves particularly popular with water authorities and for water treatment.
The unit needs little warm-up time and can be operated by non-technical personnel, providing instant test and calibration source. It is also used as surrogate gas for the cross-calibration of Chlorine Dioxide ClO2, Ozone O3 and Fluorine F3 equipment.
Housed in portable black robust carrying case, measuring just 240mm x 110mm x 220mm, the GazCalhas a generating range of 0.5ppm –20ppm at 0.5 or 1.0 litre/minute flow rate options. Low range, mid range and full range Chlorine calibration options are offered.
A particular advantage of the GazCalChlorine Gas Generator is that cell life is only consumed when the unit is switched on and used for calibration purposes. Unlike cylinders of chlorine gas mixtures, where there will be a shelf life of up to 6 months normally. Gas cylinders will only provide a defined gas mixture concentration too, for example 5ppm Chlorine. But the GazCalGenerator is completely adjustable in the range 0.5ppm to 20.0ppm in 0.1ppm increments. Moreover, low concentrations of Chlorine gas mixtures can reliably be produced with the GazCalincluding 1ppm and 2ppm levels. Whereas, it is difficult to provide cylinder stability at such concentration levels.
