Oldham (France), an Industrial Scientific Company, recently announced the launch of the second generation of its successful iTrans product – the iTrans 2 fixed gas monitor for the detection of explosive gases, toxic gases or oxygen. With CSA and NEPSI approvals, the iTrans 2 is available for sale in the Americas and Asia-Pacific regions. It is anticipated that ATEX and IECEx will be received by September 2013, and GOST and InMetro approvals will follow shortly thereafter.

The iTrans 2 employs an intelligent electronics platform to provide one or two points of detection from a single head for maximum flexibility, superior performance and lower installation costs. When in RS485 bus configuration, one system is capable of accommodating more than 200 transmitters and can monitor any combination of gases for a specific environment.

Other features and benefits of the iTrans 2 fixed gas monitor include: Non-intrusive calibration; Oldham’s industry-proven ‘smart’ sensor technology and safety features, including automatic sensor recognition, zero and cal fault protection, and access code security; HART and MODBUS communication; New IR sensing technology; Programmable relays; and Explosion-proof aluminum or stainless steel housings.

“The iTrans 2 builds upon the success of its predecessor and input from our customers to provide the next generation of superior detection performance,” said Michel Spellemaeker, Oldham’s global director of product management.
