Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao Chooses Oxy for Major Plant Revamp
Sep 28 2009
The first of Servomex’s (UK) award-winning Servotough Oxy oxygen analysers to be supplied to China will be installed at a major phenol/acetone plant belonging to Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao.
Four Servotough Oxy analysers will replace the existing analysers in a revamping project at the Shanghai-based 200kt/a phenol/acetone plant, which has been in operation since 2004. The Oxy units will monitor for residual 02 levels in the off gases of the oxidation reactor, a crucial measurement in the refining process that requires high levels of accuracy and reliability to ensure critical safety levels are maintained.
Servomex was chosen to supply the Servotough Oxy on the basis of Servomex’s world-leading Paramagnetic oxygen cell technology, which offers industry-leading levels of linearity, accuracy and reliability, as well as the Oxy’s advanced functionality and safety concepts which secured it a prestigious Gold Award at this year’s global Golden Gas Awards. Servomex was also able to demonstrate excellence in delivering ongoing service and support, which will be managed by Servomex’s Asia Pacific business centre, based also in Shanghai.
Offering an exceptional range of industrystandard options and innovating no less than three unique functions, the Oxy replaces the acclaimed Servomex 1900 to set new standards of performance from a single, cost-effective unit. The Oxy can be configured for a range of applications including process control, safety critical oxidation, flare stack analysis, product purity, feedstock clean-up and inerting/ blanketing.
