Dr Brian Phillips, Managing Director of Chelsea Technologies (UK) reports that the company is delighted to be exhibiting once again at Oceanology InternationaI China, Shanghai, as part of the Society of Maritime Industries Group.

On display will be their well established FastOcean multi-wavelength fluorometer-based systems for in situ and laboratory-based assessment of phytoplankton physiology and gross primary productivity (GPP). Also on display will be the low cost Lux family of miniature digital fluorometers optimised to monitor Chlorophyll a, Turbidity, Hydrocarbon, CDOM, Phycoerythrin Cyanobacteria, Phycocyanin Cyanobacteria and many dyes including Rhodamine and Fluorescein. The highly successful UV AquaTracka which has long been the industry standard for hydrocarbon detection and can monitor crude and refined oil from coastal margins to deep ocean will also be on show.

"We celebrate over 50 years in the design and manufacture of a range of innovative multi-parameter sensors and systems for the monitoring of the physical, optical and biological oceanographic environments," reports Marketing Director, Richard Burt. "Customers have been using our high quality sensors and systems in a wide range of applications. Submariners are using them to understand the environment they pass through, water authorities are using them to test water supplies to guard against chemical attack by terrorists. Scientists are using the our sensors to monitor oceanic algae to tackle climate change and shipping companies have installed state of the art in-line sensors to monitor their exhaust gas cleaning systems and ballast water in order to prevent contamination of seas. Oil companies are also using our sophisticated fluorometers to detect subsea pipeline leaks and monitor oil spills.”
