The government has been questioned over its attempts to implement green policies, after a recent environmental analysis showed little progress has been made.

Reports released by Friends of the Earth have shown that the Coalition is "failing to deliver" on its green targets.

As part of the research, 77 environmental policies were scrutinised and the organisation found that no headway had been made on 58 of them.

Leaders at Friends of the Earth also reserved criticism for the Liberal Democrats, with study authors suggesting the party had not done enough to promote its green ideology since joining forces with the Conservatives.

"It's certainly not too late, but things are going to have to change dramatically to make up lost ground," commented Friends of the Earth representative Jonathan Porritt.

Recently, London campaigner Jenny Bates labelled the air quality in the city as "outrageous" and said not enough has been done to tackle the problem.
