Waste water, recycling and resource management strategies are among the topics set to be discussed at the Futuresource 2009 exhibition, which is due to take place at the ExCeL centre in London later this month.

Co-hosted by the Environmental Services Association and the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM), the event will see a number of industry experts on hand to discuss topical issues.

Among them are Hilary Benn MP, secretary of state for environment food and rural affairs, Michael Warhurst from environmental organisation Friends of the Earth and Paul Bettison, chairman of the Local Government Association's environment board.

The Duke of Edinburgh, who is an Honorary Fellow of the CIWM, has also announced plans to attend the event.

Steve Lee, chief executive of the CIWM, said: "Brown, Obama and the European Parliament have all acknowledged that industries like ours and the services we develop in coming years will be critical to sustainable economic growth and reducing the impact of climate change."
