A new Environmental Law Register, which provides a list of environmental legislation applicable to the construction industry in Northern Ireland, has been officially launched.

Members of the Construction Employers Federation (CEF) can make use of the register as a checklist to ensure they have up-to-date data regarding the environmental law that affects them.

Andrew Ryan, environment lawyer at Carson McDowell solicitors, who compiled the register, said he was pleased to be asked to put together an easy-to-access document for CEF firms.

"There is a lot of environmental legislation out there and the aim of having the register available for construction companies is to make the process of finding and adhering to relevant legislation much easier," he stated.

In related news, the Independent reported earlier this year that the Irish Farmers' Association thought a proposed redrafting of the European Union's Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Directive could leave its members facing extra costs and bureaucracy if the amendments were carried out.
