The 86BSD, from AMSYS (Germany), is a media compatible, piezo resistive silicon pressure sensor packaged in a 316L stainless steel housing with a diameter of 15.8mm. This 14-bit digital output pressure sensor supports I2C and SPI interface protocols, may come in a 3.3 or 5.0Vdc supply voltage and is designed for O-ring mounting.

The OEM sensor comes with an O ring seal for housing assembly at the end customer. It utilises silicone oil to transfer pressure from its 316L stainless steel diaphragm to its sensing element.

The 86BSD is available for pressure ranges from 0-1psi to 0-300psi as gage pressure version and from 0-15psi to 0-300psi as abso-lute pressure version. Both the temperature in the range from -40°C to +125°C and the pressure are provided as a digital signal by the sensor.

A modern CMOS-ASIC allows the electronic calibration and the temperature compensation. The total error is specified with ± 1%FS in the calibrated pressure range and the temperature error is stated with ±1.5°C. The pressure resolution is 0.008%FS and the temperature resolution is 0.1°C.

The output can be determined either in the range from 10% to 90% or from 5 to 95% of the applied pressure.

The OEM pressure sensors can be used for level measurement and control applications, e.g. in tank facilities. Because of the media compatibility they are suitable for corrosive fluids and gas measurement systems. Using an appropriate housing the 86BSD can also be used as a diving probe in contaminated liquids.

AMSYS will be at SENSOR+TEST 2016, Hall 1, Stand 1-340.
