Alphasense appoint Doug Knifton as Plant Director

Alphasense has announced the appointment of Doug Knifton as its new Plant Director. In his new role, Knifton will be responsible for developing the company's manufacturing processes, introducing new products and exploring adjacent markets and applications.

Knifton brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked for more than 29 years in senior management positions at Thermo Fisher Scientific, Elekta, and Powerlase. He has extensive knowledge of technology-led, capital equipment operations, including medical devices, laser optics, semi-conductors, and analytical instruments.

The main focus of Knifton's role will be to enhance Alphasense's manufacturing capability through the implementation of innovative and effective systems that streamline processes. These improvements are expected to lead to increased output, reduced lead times, and improved quality.

In addition to improving manufacturing processes, Knifton will work closely with the entire Alphasense team to ensure that the company meets its customers' needs. He plans to strengthen partnerships with customers, design products to fit their applications, and invest in facilities, processes, and people to equip everyone to meet customer needs.

Commenting on his new role, Knifton said, "To meet the needs of our customers now and in the future, we're focusing on product development, with an eye on how the markets are developing and how our sensors can help. I'm determined to use the experience I have to drive us forward in existing and new markets."

Alphasense is renowned for developing its sensor ranges to fit its customer’s application requirements and ensure they meet compliance issues both now and in the future. Alphsense will launch several exciting new product technologies to support customer applications in the near future.
