The sewage treatment works which handles
waste water at an airbase in Aberdeenshire need to be upgraded, it has been said.
A consultation meeting was held earlier this week for residents to voice their opinions about the proposed £250 million redevelopment of RAF Edzell on the border between Aberdeenshire and Angus, reports the Press and Journal.
If plans go ahead, the site will be transformed into a residential and business centre.
However, while most locals were happy about the project, there were a few concerns raised.
The newspaper reported project director George Massie as saying: "There are issues of infrastructure improvement. The sewage treatment works will have to be upgraded, if not replaced and roads have to be improved and adopted."
He added that once issues of handling
waste water are resolved, work can begin on the site in 2013.
RAF Edzell was first used during World War I and remained operational throughout the second world war. However, the base was closed in 1996.
