Personal Air Sampling Pumps Passed For Use at Potentially Explosive Plants and Production Sites in Australia and New Zealand
Oct 17 2011
Casella CEL’s (www.casellameasurement.com; 01234 844100) TUFF™ range of Personal Air Sampling Pumps - rugged pumps for use in harsh monitoring environments – has recently gained ANZEx Intrinsically Safe approval for use in flammable atmospheres. This means the TUFF pumps can be used in hazardous plants and production sites across Australia and New Zealand where this is a potential risk of explosive dust or gas.
This latest certification is in addition to the ATEX (EU) and IECEx (International) Intrinsically Safe approvals Casella CEL’s TUFF Personal Air Sampling Pumps already hold.
Designed to European IP54 standards, which means it is protected from dust and splashing water, the TUFF also has received the certification to ‘M1’ classification required for mining applications. This allows it to be safely used underground without the need for a hot work permit.
Casella CEL Market Manager Tim Turney comments: “Although there are international accreditations, many countries still impose their own standards for certain applications. As a business with increasing overseas growth, Casella CEL decided to seek ANZEx approval to ensure that we could continue to easily supply customers in Australia and New Zealand.”
Tim continues: “Gaining ANZEx certification for the TUFF also demonstrates our on-going commitment to manufacturing robust, high quality measurement instruments fit for use in the harshest of exposure environments. Users from all over the world can have complete confidence that the pumps will reliably provide the required information in a huge range of situations.”
