Firefighters call in Highways Agency to help with oil spill
Dec 16 2008
The emergency services were called after receiving reports that hydraulic oil had leaked from a vehicle onto the road, reports the Gazette and Herald.
Watch manager Justin Rowe told the newspaper that the oil was dumped by either a lorry or a tractor.
Special absorbent Drizzet Pads were used in an attempt to mop up the spillage.
Mr Rowe commented: "We've requested some help from Highways because the paper we use is not sufficient to deal with this much oil."
In related news, an oil spillage caused tailbacks on the M6 in Lancashire over the weekend.
The incident occurred near junction 29 of the M6 northbound, reports the Lancashire Evening Post.
No one was injured in the spillage, however oil was spilt across the carriageway.
