The use of a
landfill site in north Wales is set to be placed under scrutiny by a public inquiry.
Led by a Welsh Assembly Government planning inspector, the hearing will consider whether a company over-filled the Sea View Farm facility near Hawarden in Flintshire, BBC News reports.
Construction firm D Morgan was served three enforcement notices by Flintshire Council over its use of the
landfill site but lodged an appeal against the action, prompting the inquiry.
It had been due to take place at Ewloe Social Club in July, but was postponed because insufficient time had been allocated.
Earlier this year, environmental campaigner and county councillor Klaus Armstrong Braun told the Daily Post the
landfill site borders a wetlands area that is important for local biodiversity.
Commenting on the inquiry, he said: "I'm pleased that after things have gone on for eight to ten years, finally a decision is going to be made."
