One System for Stationary and Mobile Gas Analysis

Jul 07 2013

All plant operators producing energy from biogas, sewer gas or landfill gas aim to optimise processes and thus ensure greater efficiency. At the same time, however, harmful components in the gas need to be kept to a minimum.

Only constant monitoring of the composition of the raw biogas in a plant can indicate changes before it is too late and thereby prevent prolonged outages. For example, if there is a warning of too much H2S at the measurement location before the motor, the operator can act immediately to protect the motor from expensive damage.

The Multitec BioControl is a combined measuring instrument comprising the fixed Multitec BioControl and the mobile Multitec 540 gas measuring device and therefore offering users the greatest possible flexibility and ease of use.

Depending on the product version, the gas composition and volume can be automatically measured and monitored live at up to eight measurement locations. The Multitec 540 measures the values at the individual measurement locations sequentially and then transfers them to the Multitec BioControl via an interface.

Individual measurement locations can also be set up for mobile measurement if preferred. The Multitec 540 is removed from the docking station for mobile measurement and the measuring results are stored under the name of the measurement location. When it is replaced in the docking station following the mobile measurement, the stored protocols are automatically transferred to the Multitec BioControl and displayed.

Mobile measurements allow you to integrate even remote outdoor measuring points reliably and cost-effectively into the system.

The Multitec BioControl offers a reliable and lasting solution to measuring raw Biogas. ATEX-certified flow rate and temperature transmitters, which can be permanently installed outdoors, are available as optional accessories.

The intelligent compensation of pressure, temperature, moisture and gas composition means that the raw gas volume can be recorded and analysed reliably and accurately.

As well as displaying the instantaneous and cumulative flow rates at individual measurement locations, it also shows the associated gas energy.

The Multitec BioControl has a large colour touchscreen displaying a live view of all key measurement values. This together with the clearly laid-out menu structure makes the device very easy and intuitive to use. It is configured to the user's individual requirements, and all settings are password-protected. The device performs continuous self-tests while it is in use.

In addition, all relevant components are resistant to aggressive gases. All measurement values and settings are automatically stored on a USB stick at regular intervals to prevent loss of data. The device can also be maintained and diagnosed remotely via the internet.
