Teconer manufactures Road Condition Monitor RCM411 and related products to help in encountering challenging weather conditions in highway winter maintenance. Since the market launch in 2011 this pioneering product is used to scan for over two million kilometers of highways and a record number of scans for a quarter of million kilometers took place in January 2017. The scanning system consists of the sensor, a communication unit and a server software for an easy access to open data, which includes road surface condition, friction, surface temperature and water layer thickness on a user-friendly Road Condition Map.

Recent experiences of installing these sensors on long distance buses and trucks has revealed that collection of mobile road weather data is feasible. The running cost of the system appears to be a small fraction of keeping up a corresponding network of fixed weather stations.
