Details of the
water quality of the UK's beaches have been released on the internet.
The Environment Agency has announced the standard of water at Britain's 500 shores, in order to help the public "make more informed choices about the best locations to visit and enjoy".
Ed Mitchell of the agency stated that the details "provide the most comprehensive information yet on the cleanliness of bathing waters" as it includes maps and photos as well as facts about any potential pollutants.
Mr Mitchell added that as a result of an £8 billion investment from water companies to improve Britain's sewage system, as well as constant
water monitoring, the UK's beaches have seen a "huge improvement".
However, the Environment Agency spokesman added that the group is "not complacent" and intends to continue to beat the problem of pollution for the UK's shoreline.
Beaches often become intoxicated as a result of sewage system overflows, farmland waste, leaking septic tanks and animal faeces.
