Honeywell (USA) recently announced that its Safety Products business has been awarded six innovation awards by the independent panel at A+A 2013 for new personal protective equipment (PPE) products and safety solutions.

“Using our global network of research and development centres, we are able to leverage technology from across the world to develop solutions that keep workers safe from existing and emerging threats in the workplace,” said Sach Sankpal, vice president and general manager, Honeywell Safety Products. “We are all delighted that this expertise is recognised by having these six great new products singled-out and displayed within the Innovation Park at A+A.”

Among the winners is the Gridel EFS Hood, a ventilated single-use protective hood, designed to give workers Class 5 protection in industries where the air is polluted with solid particles, such as the nuclear, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Its unique design (patent pending) also protects the working environment against biological contamination from the worker.

Another winner is the Perfect Cutting Diamond glove, the first cut protection level four glove that does not contain fibre-glass, which reduces the likelihood of the wearer developing contact-dermatitis. This glove gives workers protection when handling sharp objects in dry and greasy environments but at the same time provides them with excellent dexterity and grip.

The Howard Leight Hearing Conservation initiative has also been recognised and demonstrates Honeywell’s holistic approach to developing safety solutions head-to-toe. The hearing conservation initiative provides safety managers and occupational health workers with products, services, tools and expertise to battle Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) in the work place and raises awareness on the use of hearing protection in workers private lives. Honeywell will be hosting seminars at A+A for visitors interested in learning more about hearing conservation.
