3M Occupational Health and Environmental Safety Division expands its Detection Portfolio with the introduction of three new products – the 3M™ Sound Examiner SE-400 series of advanced integrating sound level meters, as well as 3M™ Detection Management Software DMS and the 3M™ AcoustiCal Calibrator AC-300.
New 3M™ Sound Examiner SE-400 Series of Sound Level Meters
The new Sound Examiner SE-400 sound level meter computes the average sound pressure level (LEQ/LAVG) over the run time, helping occupational health and environmental safety professionals to more accurately assess noise levels. Parameters include: SPL, LMax, LMin, LPk (peak), Leq/Lavg and elapsed time.
Sound Examiner SE-400 series features:
• Variable, user-selectable data logging intervals
• Large backlit LCD display
• Rechargeable lithium battery
• Numerous noise surveys stored in memory for download
• Optional removable Type/ Class 1 microphone
• Multilingual user interface
• All models ship ready-to-use; no setup necessary
The SE-400 Series is available with kits in Type/Class 1 and 2 microphones, and with and without calibrators. The portable SoundPatrol serial printing feature is also available.www.3m.eu/Detection
3M™ AcoustiCal AC-300 Replaces QC-20 Calibrator in Class 1 Instrumentation Kits
The AcoustiCal AC-300 is a precision sound level calibrator that replaces the 3M™ QC-20 calibrator for calibration of Class/Type 1 microphones. It generates two settings with either 250 Hz or 1000 Hz at a sound pressure level of 114dB. The sound pressure level and combinations of frequency outputs conform to the requirements of the IEC standard 60942: 2003-1 for sound calibrators. The AC-300 will be included in 3M Quest instrumentation kits featuring Class/Type 1 microphones. Purchase of the SE-401-AC3 Sound Examiner Kit will include the AC-300. www.3m.eu/detection
The Sound Examiner uses the NEW Detection Management Software DMS. DMS is the next generation of 3M Quest instrumentation software, and is intended to replace QuestSuite™ Professional II (QSPII) for use in reporting, managing and analyzing exposures to a variety of occupational and environmental hazards.
DMS is similar in functionality to QSP-II; new features include:
• A simplistic start screen with icons to navigate to existing data and/or instrument configuration and downloads
• A unique look at the data parameters, including The Data Finder page, where data is sorted into sessions and studies
• Easy sizing and arranging of data for viewing
• A “Quick Report” function for fast report generation
• Logged Data charts that help provide recalculation of noise and sound data for multiple time selections
• Comprehensive reporting and printing provided including saving reports in Acrobat® PDF format.
• Easy data export to a Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheet
• Red and green hearing protection ear muff icons help indicate when threshold limits may be exceeded
A DMS software CD will be shipped free of charge with all new 3M Quest data logging instruments through June 30, 2012. This offer represents a savings of $495 – the list price of Detection Management Software DMS if purchased separately. www.3M.com/dms
