QED’s Dean Kavanagh appointed Co-chair of CoGDEM Industry Subgroup

Feb 16 2022

QED Environmental Systems’ managing director Dean Kavanagh has been appointed Co-Chair of the Council of Gas Detection and Environmental Monitoring (CoGDEM) Industry Subgroup. Dean will chair CoGDEM’s sub-group alongside Rob White, Sales Director of DD Scientific; both chairs will take up their appointments over the coming months.

The CoGDEM Industry Subgroup is a highly influential steering group, with meetings scheduled three times a year. The subgroup ensures that CoGDEM serves the interests of members across a wide variety of crucial issues such as standards, accreditations, ISO compliance and performance testing.

John Saffell, Chair of CoGDEM, said this of the Co-Chair appointment, “Dean and Rob have both stepped up to support CoGDEM. They will both bring a huge amount of industry experience to our steering committee, and they are already looking at how to further engage with our membership. It’s a positive development for the industry as a whole, and I am looking forward to working with them both.”

Dean has been Managing Director of QED Environmental Systems since early 2017, also achieving Chartered Director status with the UK’s Institute of Directors the following year. He became a member of CoGDEM in 2004 and has contributed to many Subgroup meetings during that time.

One of Dean’s key areas of focus will be to increase communication with government. He stated, “I want the Industrial Subgroup to represent the membership and also be a vehicle for CoGDEM to deliver a unified message. This will enable CoGDEM members to support the UK Government’s net zero targets, including the reduction of methane emissions, which is a key element of COP 26 commitments.”
