Cambridge CMOS Sensors Appoints Robert Swann as Chairman

UK based Cambridge CMOS Sensors (CCS), a semiconductor company with industry leading gas sensor solutions to monitor the local environment, is pleased to announce that it has appointed Dr. Robert Swann as Chairman

Nat Edington, CEO, said: “We are delighted that Robert has agreed to join us as Chairman as we take our initial steps towards commercialising our digital sensors. His vast knowledge and experience within the industry will be invaluable to us, as will be his expertise in building early stage companies. I look forward to working closely with him.” 

Dr.Swann, is an experienced entrepreneur and business angel with expertise in the semiconductor, signal/image processing, and Consumer Electronics sectors. In 2000 he co-founded Alphamosaic Ltd, a semiconductor company specialising in multimedia processors, which was acquired by Broadcom Corporation for $123 million in 2004. Following the sale of Alphamosaic, Dr. Swann served as a senior director of marketing at Broadcom. 

Since leaving Broadcom in 2007, Dr. Swann has worked with a number of early-stage venture companies. He is Chairman of Audio Analytic Ltd and a board member of Undo Software Ltd, and Movidius Ltd. Dr. Swann was formerly Executive Chairman of Green Parrot Pictures Ltd, acquired by Google in 2011 and a board member of Im-Sense Ltd, acquired by a global consumer electronics company in 2010, Dexela, acquired by Perkin Elmer in 2011 and the East of England Development Agency. He also serves on the board of Cambridge Angels.

Air quality measurement will become increasingly important, and measurement at low power on tiny devices, all the more so.
