The project has be given the requisite approvals from both Finnish and Ethiopian authorities and Vaisala, in partnership with the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) will install and implement this system for Ethiopia’s National Meteorological Agency over the next 2 to 3 years, followed on by a 3 year maintenance and support contract. This contract is worth €13M, but the capability to forecast extreme weather early will be priceless for Ethiopia.

Vaisala’s high-end observation system integrated with FMI’s state of the art forecast production system covers the whole value chain of the National Meteorology Agency”.
