Innovative Particle Counters for the Pharma and Sensitive Foods Industries

Jul 28 2012

Particle counting is a critical component of cleanroom monitoring programs and thus a cornerstone of Merck Millipore’s (Germany) complete range of environmental monitoring solutions. Particle counter data is needed to detect contaminants in ambient air and to determine the cleanliness of the air in controlled environments, such as those found in the pharmaceutical or sensitive food industries, which must comply with ISO 14644, GMP and FS209E.

Merck Millipore’s flexible and convenient APC instruments meet JIS B 9921: 1997 and ISO 21501 standards for performance, counting efficiency and calibration. Both the APC SmartTouch and the APC ErgoTouch Pro 2 are easy to disinfect and fulfill the most stringent hygiene standards.

The portable APC SmartTouch airborne particle counter is a complete system with many accessories including a compressed gas adaptor for high pressures. It is designed for dual flow rates: one for cleanroom filter testing (ISO 14644-1) and the other for monitoring (ISO 14644-2). Equipped with two high-capacity batteries, the instrument is designed for continuous sampling. A visual representation of sampling locations, including the designated sampling points, minimises the risk of human errors. In addition, the APC SmartTouch is easy to clean and disinfect.

The handheld APC ErgoTouch Pro 2 possesses all the features and performance capabilities of a portable airborne particle counter built into its small, state-of-the-art design. Its convenient size, low weight and intuitive handling make it an ideal low-investment choice for validation according to ISO 7, 8 and GMP Gr. C, D. The instrument with a flow rate of 2.83 L/min and six channels meets JIS standards and possesses a large color touch screen for intuitive, easy handling. A wide range of accessories is available, including a compressed gas adaptor for high pressures.
