New instrument for precise shallow water monitoring unveiled.

The all-new Hyperion32 was recently unveiled at WWEM 2025 in Birmingham, alongside Teledyne Valeport Water’s portfolio of water quality sensors and flow meters. The newest addition to the trusted Hyperion range, the Hyperion32 is an optical sensor for precise measurements in shallow, inland, and industrial water environments.

With a depth-rating of up to 50 metres, it has been designed as a cost-effective alternative for users who don’t require the deep-sea capabilities of the standard Hyperion range. Engineered with Teledyne Valeport’s corrosion-resistant titanium housing, the Hyperion32 features a streamlined 32 mm diameter. Its compact form makes it easier to deploy, and the sensor’s snag-free integral cable reduces drag, which would be useful in applications where space as well as easy deployment and retrieval are key considerations, such as projects that require repeated monitoring.

The Hyperion32 supports a wide spectrum of water quality parameters including Chlorophyll a, Phycocyanin, Fluorescein, Sulforhodamine B, Rhodamine WT, Crude Oil, fDOM, and Turbidity.

Whether used as a standalone device or integrated into a multi-sensor array with logging capabilities, the Hyperion32 stands out for its performance, reliability, and flexibility. It supports a number of applications in environmental monitoring, academic research, conservation, industrial compliance, agriculture, municipal water management, aquaculture, and civil engineering.
