New toxic gas sensors enhance performance of Photoionisation Detection Technology

Mar 14 2018

AMETEK MOCON’s line of patented Baseline® piD-TECH® eVx photoionisation detectors (PID) are an easily integrated and robust OEM plug-in sensor for applications requiring volatile organic compound (VOC) detection and/or measurement for indoor air quality, industrial hygiene and safety monitoring, confined space entry, soil contamination and remediation, hazmat sites and spills, EPA Method 21, and low-concentration leak detection.

MOCON’s plug-n-play piD-TECH eVx’s performance, reliability, and dependability are unrivaled in the industry. The sensor provides complete photoionization detection capabilities and is designed to be mechanically interchangeable with major brands of electrochemical sensors (4P cell platform compatible).

piD-TECH eVx sensors are available in eight detection ranges depending upon lamp energy and application requirements, offering the broadest range of VOC detection capabilities available. These sensors are intrinsically safe: UL, CSA, ATEX, IECEx certified and offer minimum detection limits as low as 0.5 ppb. Operators also appreciate the sensors’ fast response time and filter technology to protect from aerosols and particulates. The lamp features a pre-Ignition circuit for fast, repeatable and dependable start-up, the lamp life is actually a guaranteed 6,000 continuous hours, although its typical lifespan is considerably longer. piD-TECH eVx has negligible in-rush current and is stable when changes in temperature occur or there is a high level of humidity. MOCOC’s detectors also feature integral shielding, minimal dead volume and internally regulated supply voltage accepts input voltages from 3.2 V to 5.5 V

MOCON continue to strive to produce the best VOC detection capabilities in your hand-held, mobile, or fixed gas detection systems or devices. They have a team of dedicated PID engineers to assist users in integrating their intrinsically safe PID sensor into their systems.
